Artist Statement.
An exploration of the environment on Black People
Adeyinka’s works focus on the effects of environmental stress on Black people and the means by which we seek restoration and peace. Systemic and institutional racism wreak havoc on the minds, bodies, and souls of black folk. As a result, we struggle with stress related and trauma provoked illness and poverty that make way for the destruction of self and our people. While addressing these issues, her work encourages us to seek restoration and to BREATHE. Layered mixed-media collage is her current voice, please listen with an open mind and heart.
